These terms are all used vaguely and interchangeably, often to the detriment of our patients. In this presentation, we will cover ways of explaining the differences between palliative care, hospice, and comfort measures. We will also examine the Utah POLST form and its relevance and connection to all three of these terms. Lastly, we will cover a few ways of conversationally capturing where a person might fall in their desires among these options.
